EOFPANJ, in partnership with our state-wide student organization, the Alliance of EOF Students of New Jersey or AESNJ, is busy planning the Fall 2012 Conference.

This year, we are pleased to announce Mercer County Community College as this year's location for our Fall Conference on Monday, December 3rd 2012. We are also pleased to have the financial support of the New Jersey Higher Education, Educational Opportunity Fund Office (NJHE/EOF). Each EOF program may have one professional and two student conference registrations covered by NJHE/EOF.

Our conference theme, “Living the Legacy,” gives direction to our conference proceedings as we maintain - as educational professionals and student leaders - our commitment to a vision for the future rooted in guiding principles described in the report, “Opportunity for a New Millennium: EOF Planning Report”, adopted in 1997 by the EOF Statewide Board of Directors. These are promoting access, enhancing quality, and maintaining accountability, while facing an ever-changing political, social, and educational landscape.

The conference committee invites professional and student presenters inclusive of Educational Opportunity Fund staff and students, academic and student affairs personnel, as well as members of the governmental, nonprofit, corporate, and foundation sectors to submit workshop/panel presentation proposals.

Information on registration and keynote announcements will be shared soon!

This year there is an interest in providing both professionals and students a wider variety of programming formats. Programming traditionally features a keynote or two, plenary sessions, and concurrent workshops. In addition to this fare, we would like to offer more in-depth sessions, 2 ½ to 3 hours in length.

Current areas for in-depth sessions include the following.

§     Continued expansion of our partnership with Jersey Cares in providing students the opportunity to

become Project Coordinators through participation in training conducted by Jersey Cares at the

             conference

§     Continued expansion of our partnership with Wells Fargo in providing professionals “train the trainer

sessions” in preparation for delivering Wells Fargo’s “Hands on Banking” Financial Literacy Program

             to students.

§     Integration of AESNJ Chapter Summit into conference proceedings to galvanize this community of

student leaders as a means to strengthening their presence on the local and state levels.

Volunteers are always welcome. Tieka Harris may be reached at harrist@tcnj.edu; or 609-771-3369. Joed Lopez can be contacted at jolopez@caldwell.edu or at 973-618-3317.
